The Student GIS Lab Technician will be involved in various GIS-related projects at Harrisburg University's Geospatial Technology Center. These activities will support both internal projects, as well as other grant-related projects and work that is conducted with private or public organizations on a contract basis. The work that will be completed will be in a variety of software platforms including ArcDesktop, ArcGIS Online, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Office. The type of work that students will perform includes, but is not limited to, hard copy and digital map creation, georeferencing, geocoding, vectorizing, data cleaning, and scanning or hard copy maps into digital format.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties may vary and other duties may be assigned)

Georeference various maps Vectorize features from maps Map Scanning Use appropriate methods and symbology to create appealing maps Query subsets of data Be able to read and interpret map data POSITION REQUIREMENTS Be available to work at least 10 hours per week Physically be able to scan large maps Ability to interact and interface with clients
