The Department of General Services (DGS) is seeking four (4) student assistants that will work as part of the Office of Human Resources, Medical Management Section, providing assistance to one or more Reasonable Accommodation Coordinator (RAC) in three main areas: FMLA, CFRA, and reasonable accommodation. These positions report to the Assistant Section Chief, Medical Management Section. Employment
This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited, student position. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. This means that either University Enterprises, Inc. or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.
Depending on the type of position you are applying for, a pre-employment background check consisting of one or more of the following may be conducted: employment history, professional references, criminal check: educational verification (degree, license, or official transcript) or DMV clearance. Applicants will be required to pass required pre-employment checks to the satisfaction of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the hiring Agency or Department.

UEI employees who are considering leaving their current UEI Student assistant position for a different UEI student assistant position should inform their supervisor in writing and provide at least a week's notice.

Prerequisites
Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (Fall, Spring and Winter, if applicable), at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list.

Students must be enrolled in at least: six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students; four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students.
Students declared major must match the major(s) listed in the job posting.
Majors/Fields of Study
Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, Communications, Sociology, Public Policy or a related field.
Work Schedule
Flexible workdays and work hours, Monday - Friday, between 8 AM - 5 PM. The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor.
Additional Work Schedule
Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday - Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer).
Compensation
$18.27 - $24.62 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word). Exercise sound judgment in handling confidential and sensitive matters. Prioritize multiple assignments and meet timeframes. Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA. Must complete each term with minimum unit requirements for Undergraduate and Graduate student classifications. Proof will be collected at the end of each Spring and Fall term. Preferred Qualifications General interest in Human Resources. Individuals who are, or have been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth or a formerly incarcerated youth as defined by Government Code section 18220 are encouraged to apply and will be given priority. Please note that prior to appointment, individuals claiming preference under one of these categories will be required to furnish documentation establishing their eligibility. Duties and Responsibilities Assist the RAC with caseload management by analyzing and evaluating FMLA, CFRA, and reasonable accommodation requests, forms, and data, prepare recommendations, reports or correspondence, and facilitate discussions with employees or their supervisors, and complete electronic case notes. Provide first-level responses, escalate unresolved requests or issues to a RAC for resolution. Provide input and assistance with the development of internal processes and procedures, forms, and templates. Create and maintain instructions and documentation. Process all mail as well as fax and scan documents. Assist with the submission of supply and specialty RA orders. Receive, maintain, organize and the inventory of MMS RA equipment. Assist with the MMS record retention schedule, activities and requirements. Create, modify, and review power point presentations, reports, excel files, entry into departmental specific systems, ensuring accessibility best practices and guidelines are adhered to. Manages email accounts by organizing emails to ensure protected leave requests are processed within the statutorily required timeframe. Develop and maintain an annual training calendar for the MMS, coordinating the planning and facilitation of the training with the RAC's and DGS University. Collects and analyzes training evaluation forms and provides recommendations for training modifications. Ensures that all training materials and handouts are prepared in advance of each training. Perform other job-related duties as required and may provide assistance to the workers compensation unit.
Physical Requirements
Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
Working Conditions
Work is performed remotely. If the student assistant wants to come into the office, they may elect to report to our Headquarters in West Sacramento, CA.
Students/Employees will be required to work according to the current UEI remote workplace policy and sign a UEI Work from Home Agreement. The decision to permit an employee to work from home is at the discretion of the supervisor or employer and may, at any time and with or without cause, unilaterally terminate the option to work from home.
