A student assistant for Organic Chemistry is needed to support exam preparation and proctoring. Students interested in this position are asked to commit to at least 2 semesters of employment, with the opportunity to stay in the position until they graduate. Exam proctors are expected to work in the office and keep a punctual schedule; your supervisor will work with you to determine your availability, and the position may be flexible in scheduling. Exam proctors are expected to be professional and responsible stewards of exams and course materials. Some aspects of the job include, but are not limited to:
Assist with preparation of exam materials according to instructors’ directions
Package and return exam materials to faculty/staff members
Proctor students taking makeup/conflict exams through direct observation to ensure compliance with the UF Honor Code after being trained
Be available for student visits after exams for handing back exam materials to students
Report all violations or suspected violations of the Honor Code to staff and faculty supervisors
Starting and stopping exams at the appropriate time and verifying student IDs
Managing the conflict exam storage system and assisting with student exam scheduling
Assist in keeping orderly filing; help in maintaining exam storage, files, and records organization and retention
Confidentiality of student records, exam materials; students must not share exam content or student information in any way that violates the Honor Code or violates FERPA
Other occasional office assistance including setup/tear down for organic seminars
Expected Salary: The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Required Qualifications: Students must have a minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA
Must be in good academic and conduct standing with the University of Florida
Willingness to make a commitment of - hours a week, for at least 2 consecutive semesters. Position requires working during Midterms and Finals.
Must not be a Chemistry major student; must have passed CHM 0 and CHM 1, or not take these courses as part of program of study
Preferred: Punctual, reliable, and detail oriented
Capable of working and multi-tasking independently
Capable of working in a busy office or quiet testing room
Experience working in an office environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information/situations with discretion
Able to work during midterms and Finals
Proficient in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
