Job Summary
The Student Assistant supports Campus Recreation and Intramurals as a Southern Adventures Assistant on the Statesboro campus beginning Spring 2026.
Responsibilities
Provides customer service
Assists customers with checking out gear, signing up for trips or clinics, and planning personal outings
Ensures safe and professional operation and supervision of the climbing wall and the Southern Adventure challenge course
Organizes and uses all safety equipment such as harnesses, carabiners, belay devices, helmets, ropes, crab claws, rescue equipment, etc
Sets up, operates, and takes down challenge course elements and events
Handles emergency situations, including the administration of basic First Aid/CPR and the performance of challenge course rescues
Leads groups through experiential learning activities
Assists with other duties and events as needed and assigned
Must participate in all Southern Adventure training and pass all practical skills tests and written exams
Shift Specifics
Up to 20 hours per week
Flexible with schedule of availability
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
Previous experience in climbing and rope work; experience with challenge course; leadership experience, and outdoor pursuit activities such as backpacking, hiking, cycling, or climbing
Proposed Salary
$9.00 per hour
