Job Summary As a key contributor to UChicago Professional's vision, the Coordinator of Professional Development and Student Experience enhances student engagement by developing, promoting, and facilitating access to resources, services, and events. This full-time, year-round position focuses on elevating student experiences through strategic outreach and a range of co-curricular activities. These are underpinned by our inclusion, scalability, and innovation principles, particularly emphasizing practices that significantly enhance career mobility.
The Coordinator assists in the oversight and implementation of initiatives that provide UChicago Professional students with a holistic approach to accessing social, wellness, and career development resources. Collaborating closely with UChicago Professional affiliates and as part of the Professional Development and Student Experience team, the Coordinator reports to the Associate Director of Professional Development and Student Experience. They are responsible for assisting in pioneering student-centric initiatives that integrate learners across UChicago Professional’s diverse academic programs, thereby fostering an enriching community of shared knowledge and experiences. Responsibilities Under the Associate Director's guidance, provides support in creating and delivering a comprehensive catalog of quarterly enrichment and engagement activities targeting the unique needs of professional education students, both domestic and international. Collaborates with the Student Advisory Board to develop and implement innovative initiatives that enhance student inclusion, belonging, and engagement. Coordinates communication and event management SaaS tools to support outreach and events; explores and utilizes innovative platforms to engage online, hybrid, and in-person learners across time zones. Researches, identifies, and implements sustainable strategies to engage online learners, and fosters a sense of belonging through virtual communities, peer interaction, and asynchronous discussion. Ensures virtual engagement opportunities are inclusive, accessible, and designed to support students with diverse schedules and locations. Builds relationships with UChicago Professional alumni, program completers, and potential partners locally and globally to support student experiences and professional development initiatives. Provides key support with planning UChicago Professional signature events such as student orientations, special programming, recognition, and commencement activities; ensures event details, including communication, venues, presenters, travel arrangements, materials, refreshments, and technology, are arranged and completed in an appropriate and timely manner. Manages event creation and updates across multiple platforms, such as Slate, ClickUp, and Google Forms. Maintains accurate event tracking and attendance data. Promotes events through LinkedIn, newsletters, and program listservs. Handles event follow-up tasks, including post-event communications, file management and archiving, and surveys. Prepares and updates monthly newsletters via Mailchimp. Drafts and schedules event announcements and reminders for internal and external channels. Collaborates with Marketing, Communications, and Enrollment Management team to ensure timely and accurate updates to the UChicago Professional site and events page. Recommends and implements content updates that align with new services, resources, and student experience initiatives. Manages LinkedIn groups in collaboration with program directors, fostering dynamic online communities that reflect our students' professional interests and geographic diversity. Creates and curates engaging LinkedIn content, such as spotlights, discussion prompts, career resources, to stimulate conversation and connection. Supports creating asynchronous and interactive content for online community engagement, such as discussion prompts, virtual bulletin boards, or spotlight features. Curates and distributes job and internship opportunities by industry twice per month. Researches industry trends, job boards, and career development resources relevant to non-credit students. Coordinates outreach with professional development partners and recruiters to develop webinars and virtual career fairs. Partners with program managers to expand student access to global career pathways, externships, and networking opportunities. Advises, supports, and recommends concepts for programming to leaders of various organizations and programs. Markets student activities programming throughout the year. Develops and implements protocols for evaluating the effectiveness of programs. Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications Education: Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field. Work Experience: Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline. Certifications: --- Preferred Qualifications Education: Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, communication, international education, or related field. Experience: 2–4 years of experience in student affairs, academic program administration, communications, or event coordination, preferably in higher education or a globally focused organization. Working with professional or adult learners, and familiarity with the needs of non-traditional students. Planning and delivering virtual events across time zones is highly desirable. Preferred Competencies Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with attention to detail and timelines. Familiarity with platforms such as Mailchimp, LinkedIn, Slate, Zoom, and ClickUp or similar systems. Demonstrated creativity and initiative in developing content and engaging communities, particularly on LinkedIn. Commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and a high-quality learner experience.
