Position Summary Under the leadership of the Director of Student Health Services (SHS), the Nurse Clinic Manager oversees the care provided to SF State University students by SHS's Registered Nurses and clinical support staff, both licensed and unlicensed. The Nurse Clinic Manager leads daily operations and administrative functions within SHS. Key responsibilities include managing staff and resources, facilitating research and education, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations, and establishing quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient-centered care. The manager promotes effective communication and collaboration among staff to deliver high-quality, cost-effective healthcare and serves as a resource for the SHS and the SFSU community. This role is a vital member of the SHS Leadership Team and requires on-site presence. Position Information Supervises and manages Registered Nurses (RN), clinical support staff, and the SHS CLIA-waived laboratory. Ensures the delivery of patient-centered healthcare and maintains quality assurance programs. Provides clinical and administrative supervision aligned with the missions of SHS, Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, and SF State University's Strategic Plan. Partners with campus and community entities to improve student access to healthcare services. Coordinates daily operations and patient care services. Enhances patient, provider, and staff satisfaction. Identifies opportunities to improve quality, safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of care. Monitors care indicators and implements improvements. Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and accreditation standards, including AAAHC. Oversees staffing, scheduling, and staff performance evaluations. Recruits qualified staff committed to service excellence and quality care. Implements operational modifications based on financial and other considerations. Evaluates new technology and supplies for quality and cost-effectiveness. Manages facility operations and oversees service utilization. Supervises Student Assistants and the SHS Immunization program. Develops and enforces clinical policies and procedures. Collaborates with campus departments to improve service delivery and outcomes. Manages resources efficiently and facilitates staff training and development. Ensures effective communication within the clinical team and leadership. Addresses patient complaints and resolves service issues. Participates in strategic planning and decision-making. Oversees sterilization processes and staff training related to medical equipment. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Current valid RN license in California. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent. Successful credentialing verification of education, training, and licensure. Background check including fingerprinting. Current CPR/AED certification. Preferred Qualifications Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Nurse Practitioner license in California. At least three years of outpatient acute care nursing experience. Leadership experience managing RNs and clinical staff in outpatient settings. Experience supervising staff, conflict resolution, and fostering collaboration. Knowledge of accreditation standards, healthcare models, and clinic administration. Experience with electronic medical records and practice management systems. Knowledge of infection control procedures. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Interpersonal skills to collaborate across diverse organizational levels. Experience in college health and public health settings. Core competencies include teamwork, communication, customer focus, professionalism, and diversity inclusion. Required License / Certification Valid RN license in California. CPR/AED certification. Environmental / Physical / Special Some weekend and holiday work required. Occasional travel to offsite locations. Ability to interact effectively with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
