Position Summary:
The Roseman Medical Group (RMG) MA & Student Health Coordinator is passionate about making a difference in patient advocacy, healthcare coordination, and student support. The RMG MA & Student Health Coordinator will work with the College of Medicine's Office of Student Affairs assisting with medical student compliance tracking, coordinating student/patient referrals, and managing the medically related excused absence process ensuring a seamless health care experience for students/patients. The MA & Student Health Coordinator will also integrate seamlessly into the operations of the clinic and perform a variety of patient care and front office duties, including CLIA-waived laboratory procedures. The MA & Student Health Coordinator will provide assistance/support to physicians and health care staff during general or specialized treatment of patients, and will utilize medical and administrative skills to follow-up on provider orders, referrals, testing, daily/monthly duties ensuring accurate patient records, service, and care.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on organization, problem-solving, and meaningful collaboration between clinic and academic settings. This position reports to the Roseman Medical Group Director of Clinical Operations and collaborates with the Associate Dean of Student Affairs.
Essential Functions:
Roseman Medical Group Medical Assistant Duties: Following initial check-in, warmly greet and room patients according to established procedures. Obtain and record medical histories, vital signs, medication changes and allergy updates. Assist patients, providers, health care staff with appointments, examinations and procedures. May assist providers and health care staff by scribing encounter data into medical records. Explain examinations, procedures and referrals to patients. Collect and prepare laboratory specimens; perform phlebotomy and basic CLIA Waived tests. Master the clinical functions of the electronic health record. Process new prescriptions and medication refills. Perform basic procedures such as, but not limited to: electrocardiograms, suture removal, administer immunizations, apply dressings and visual acuity testing. Follow-up on provider orders including, but not limited to, lab results, diagnostics and referrals. Arrange follow-up visits at the time of patient check-out along with other aspects of check-out. Obtain prior authorizations for procedures and/or medications prescribed. Clean and prepare rooms and instruments, handling soiled items appropriately. Student Health Coordinator Duties: Monitor, follow up, and manage medical student immunization records and infectious disease screenings using Complio - American Databank. Create and send medical student immunization attestation letters to affiliate hospitals. Work with COM Office of Student Affairs to ensure immunization compliance. Monitor required medical student drug testing results and work with COM Office of Student Affairs to ensure compliance. Serve as a point of contact for students needing assistance with medically related excused absence documentation. Assist in managing medically related excused absence requests from students, ensuring protocols are followed. Coordinate with students, faculty, and the COM Office of Student Affairs to review and validate medically related excused absence requests. Maintain accurate records of medically related excused absences and ensure compliance with College of Medicine policies and procedures. Assist students/patients in finding specialists available depending on location, insurance, patient preference, etc. Ensure that student needs, College of Medicine, and Roseman Medical Group requirements are met while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Perform other duties as assigned to support student compliance, patient referrals, clinical and administrative coordination Qualifications: MA Certification required. Three plus years' experience as an Medical Assistant with an emphasis on clinical duties. Two years' experience in healthcare, concierge or hospitality industries.
