Job Details Job Title: Student Educational Opportunity (SEO) Tutor

Job Purpose: The purpose of this job is to work with students to develop sustainable study skills, clarify information relevant to the coursework, and build a positive attitude with the student toward higher education and constructive learning. SEO/Academic Services provides tutorial support to students in multiple educational grant programs. The position offers flexible scheduling; the number of hours per week is based on the number of tutoring requests from SEO students and the courses the tutor is able to teach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Meet with 1-5 students per semester to check on progress within the class, answer relevant questions, and help the student utilize course materials to improve in the class.

Communicate effectively via phone, Zoom, email, and in-person.

Attend regular SEO tutor trainings as well as CRLA trainings provided by the STEP tutoring program.

Maintain documentation for record-keeping purposes.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: At least three semesters of postsecondary education.

Experience: Must have received at least a 'B' in a class they wish to tutor (an 'A' is preferred).

Other requirements: Preference given to students with at least a 3.0 GPA, completion and passing of a background check.

Desired Qualifications

Tutoring subjects may change per semester; preference for tutoring a wider range of coursework. Common fields include biology, health sciences, business/accounting, engineering, environmental sciences, writing, chemistry, language, education, and mathematics.
