Overview UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Student Accounting Financial Analysis Manager to join our Student Services Finance Department. This leadership role supervises a dedicated team of accountants, supports the Bursar, and plays a key part in managing student financial operations, ensuring compliance with federal and institutional regulations, and driving strategic initiatives that enhance the student financial experience. Experience and Education Required
Education Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
Experience 6 years experience in finance with demonstration in planning, forecasting, and financial analysis, plus analytical ability to understand complex financial activities of Health System
Preferred
Education Master's Degree in Business
Experience Healthcare experience preferred with master's degree
Primary Job Duties
Lead and manage student accounting operations, including oversight of third-party billing, payment plans, refunds, Leave of absence, collections, and reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with institutional policies and Title IV regulations.
Supervise, train, and evaluate Student Accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and professional work environment that promotes continuous learning and high performance.
Collaborate with Student Services areas (Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Center) and IT departments to support student success, streamline financial operations, and resolve account-related issues.
Develop and implement strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the student financial experience, including clear communication of billing procedures, payment deadlines, and available financial support options.
Serve as a primary resource for students and academic departments, representing Student Accounting during orientations and providing guidance on financial matters throughout the student lifecycle.
Manage and maintain Student Accounting website content and departmental communication channels, ensuring timely updates and accurate information dissemination through newsletters and promotional materials.
Oversee student health insurance compliance, ensuring timely resolution of issues and adherence to UT System requirements and institutional standards.
Provides financial support for all areas of UT Southwestern.
Develops multi-year cash flow projections.
Identifies areas of financial risk, present findings, and makes recommendations to management.
Develops annual forecast of capital needs and manages allocation of funds.
Plans, leads, coordinates, and manages budgeting and forecasting activities. Evaluates, prioritizes, assigns and implements capital projects.
Manages, directs and plans evaluation of company\'s financial performance. Develops and recommends actions to achieve company financial objectives.
Provides strategic consultation and guidance to management on financial issues, evaluates business proposals and creates recommendations for optimizing financial impact on business initiatives.
Manages financial analyst staff.
Completes complex projects as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.
