Overview The Director of Student Placement & Records, under minimal supervision, performs senior-level work with considerable decision-making discretion in the areas of student placement and student records. Employee performs advanced and supervisory work to carry out Board of Education policies and procedures under the direction of the Executive Director Student Placement & Records. Essential Functions Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures Lead, manage, supervise, and evaluate assigned programs/staff in the district Lead the day-to-day operations of student placement processes, including but not limited to reassignments, transfers, hardship/caregiver, residency affidavit, student assignment lottery admission/application, future enrollment, appeals, and other related processes Lead the implementation of the Student Assignment Lottery Process (SALP) Implement, maintain, and support the district\'s online enrollment system, including updating internal systems/processes to accommodate the transition from paper to online enrollment Oversee record request processes including ScribOrders, Disability Determination Service, Department of Juvenile Justice, legal subpoena requests, school requests for records, maintenance of the cumulative record, district-wide record audits, management of vendors, etc. Support parents of current or prospective students regarding assignments, placement, policies and regulations; oversee the district\'s welcome center for families Monitor and participate in the development and administration of the department budget Conduct and utilize demographic analyses and quantitative assessments regarding program and district enrollment Prepare reports, presentations, memos, or other correspondence Complete local, state, or federal surveys and reports accurately and promptly Facilitate meetings or professional development, and attend other related meetings as needed/required Participate in professional development workshops and leadership training Create an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations Perform related work as assigned or required Education and Experience Bachelor\'s degree required Master\'s degree in related area preferred NC Certification (Teacher or Principal) preferred Minimum of five (5) years\' experience as teacher or school administrator preferred Equivalent combination of experience and education Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Thorough in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles, practices, and procedures of public school system student enrollment/placement policies and school choice programs Knowledge of North Carolina Standard Course of Studies (NCSCOS) and K-12 curriculum and instructional programs Knowledge of effective teaching, assessment and best practices for inspired learning Knowledge of challenges facing large, urban school districts Ability to develop innovative programs and specialized environments to promote excellence in student growth and achievement Ability to maintain professional and emotional control under stress Ability to reflect appropriate response to situations, while maintaining a professional and personal demeanor Ability to learn and use specialized tools, equipment or software related to business needs Ability to develop and monitor a budget Ability to direct and evaluate the work of others Ability to implement local, state, and federal rules, guidelines, and procedures into daily business operations Ability to communicate effectively Ability to reason, make judgments, and maintain effective working relationships Ability to employ positive communication skills in all settings/mediums Ability to problem-solve utilizing sound judgment Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding school system business Ability to take initiative, work independently, and exercise sound judgement Ability to conceptualize, initiate, monitor, and evaluate new and/or current programs Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven, rapidly changing team environment Seniority level Director Employment type Full-time Job function Other Industries Primary and Secondary Education, Education Administration Programs, and Government Administration Charlotte, NC Salary: $80,500 - $92,000
