Job Summary:
The Director of Student Financial Services is responsible for overseeing the collection and recording of all funds for student accounts, various department revenue and the overall daily operations and management of the Student Financials Office. The Director ensures the accuracy and maintenance of all student financial transaction records in compliance with all federal and state regulations and District policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for assessing and collecting all tuition and fees, processing waivers, exemptions, veteran educational benefits, financial aid benefits, third-party sponsorships, tuition benefit programs, scholarships, payment plans, refunds, bookstore billing, departmental deposit and financial services and tax reporting.
Ensure all departmental staff are providing excellent customer service to students, families, vendors and staff.
Evaluate and implement appropriate internal controls to safeguard the financial assets of the college.
Keep abreast of all federal and state regulations relating to student financial aid disbursement, refunding, debt collection, tax reporting, payment processing, etc.
Ensure documentation required by external auditors and various reporting agencies is properly maintained.
Ensure all transactions with the Districts third-party bookstore are properly recorded on student accounts and processed in a timely manner.
Oversee the collection of all past due student and vendor accounts, managing in-house collections and working with multiple collection agencies.
Maintain relationship with cashiering vendor to ensure accuracy of credit card and web check transactions.
Ensure the accuracy of all student account balances.
Maintain accuracy of all student financial information in college publications and website.
Serve as system owner of Workday Student Financials and Cashiering Software. Work with Information Technology (IT) to ensure accuracy of system configuration and processing.
Serve as the primary representative of the department in cross-functional projects and initiatives as well as collaborations with external partners.
Train, supervise and evaluate staff ensuring appropriate cross training of staff to provide for sufficient coverage during vacations and other absences.
Evaluate operational effectiveness, identifying and implementing changes required for improvement.

Knowledge of Collin's Board approved tuition and fee structure

Knowledge of basic student registration functionality and financial aid award processes
Knowledge of IRS rules related to 1098T requirements

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution and four (4) years of related experience required.
