Overview Dean of Students with responsibilities for student behavior management, discipline, and coordination of school security and related programs. Serves as a liaison with teachers, parents, social services, and community agencies to support student success and a safe school environment.
Responsibilities
Monitors students on probation and students with criminal records.
Maintains a safe and orderly school environment.
Monitors attendance/discipline for an assigned segment of the student population and follows up on unexcused or excessive absences.
Assists with the development and implementation of the discipline plan, including district Safe School Plan procedures.
Supervises the campus security associate, coordinates school security scheduling and Safe School Audits, and oversees the ISS program in relation to the discipline plan.
Assists with supervision of student activities (lunch, class changes, assemblies, concerts, dances, sporting events).
Develops and coordinates behavior management programs; supports administrators in behavior management and classroom management.
Observes and documents behavior of individual students; maintains accurate logs of student progress.
Consults with teachers and parents about specific student behaviors; participates in parent conferences as necessary.
Provides student and parent due process in accordance with federal, state, and school system rules; ensures confidentiality of student records.
Works cooperatively with social services and community agencies to access resources for students and families.
Qualifications Bachelors degree in education or a human services field.
Eligible for Teacher or Support Area Licensure.
2+ years of experience in education, mental health, or related community service with youth.
Masters degree in education or human services, emphasizing K-12 social development; teacher or support services licensure desirable.
Administrative experience in education or mental health (preferred).
