Position Function: The Coordinator for TRiO Student Support Services provides support and instruction to limited-income, first-generation college students. The Coordinator develops and administers programming to meet the needs of SSS program participants. This individual also offers learning skills and study strategies to assist students in their academic endeavors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Determine eligibility for participation in the program by reviewing the applicant’s income, first-generation, and/or disability status. 2. Process student applications to ensure information is complete and maintain a database of TRiO SSS participant information. 3. Participate in orienting students to SSS (Student Support Services) and to the resources available to them through the grant. 4. Provide direct services to students, which can include career counseling, networking, general advising, and social support. 5. Facilitate curricular and co-curricular learning and academic workshops to enhance academic support, transition, and performance 6. Assists with TRiO Annual Performance Report and other grant maintenance, as needed. 7. Monitor student progress by utilizing available technology and tracking systems. 8. Work collaboratively with other units on campus to create specialized academic initiatives, provide advocacy, expand awareness of services, and build a support network for TRiO SSS students. 9. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student ambassadors 10. Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility Received: Receives supervision from the Associate Director, TRiO Student Support Services Given: Full supervisory responsibility to undergraduate student employees
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in field/discipline related to the position Experience (yrs.): One year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Education or other field/discipline related to the position
Substitution allowed: Any equivalent combination of related experience and/ or education approved by the Department of Human Resources Management.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort
1. No unusual physical requirements. Requires limited lifting of files and records and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility. 2. Frequent- External imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one’s control; interruptions influence priorities; difficulty to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotion issues or stress on a regular basis. 3. Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands. 4. Ability to occasionally work weekends and long hours.
