Job Description:
The Coordinator or Director of New Student Onboarding and Transition Programs is a full-time, 12-month, salaried position reporting to the Associate Dean of Students and Director of Student Engagement and Success. This position serves as the key staff member responsible for the front-line delivery of a comprehensive new student engagement and success program. This includes all new student onboarding and transition programming, which is designed to meet the needs of students from all backgrounds and circumstances, as well as the College's faculty and staff, while also serving the College's mission and reflecting its core values, not only with regard to the residential student experience, but also the experiences of our transfer and commuter student populations. This is a live-on position that requires participation in the on-call duty rotation within the Division of Student Life. Essential Functions of the Position: New Student Onboarding: Support the development and implementation of PioSOAR (Student Orientation and Registration), Transfer Tuesdays (summer orientation sessions for transfer students), Matriculation, H.O.M.E. (Honoring Our Marietta Experience, the August onboarding of new students), ENGAGE, and January orientation for new students enrolling in the spring semester, by working collaboratively with other members of the Marietta College community, including Academic Affairs, Athletics, Enrollment Management, Student Accounts, and colleagues in the Division of Student Life. Assist in the recruitment, selection, training and supervision of Orientation Leaders, including instruction of some or all of the LEAD 170 course for OLs and the peer mentoring course for select OLs. Aid in the coordination of the First-Year Experience Trip/Signature Program for H.O.M.E. Provide support in creating shared branding and promotion of New Student Onboarding Programs. Assist in executing communication plans for PioSOAR and H.O.M.E. to reach a variety of audiences, including students, colleagues, parents and families. Help manage the branding and promotion of these programs. Address student and parent issues and resolve them in a satisfactory manner. Supervision: Directly supervise all student leaders for new student onboarding and transition programs, and also any designated student employees. Management: Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with a broad range of campus partners, especially in Admissions, Campus Involvement, Community Living, Marietta College Police Department, Center for Health and Wellness, Student Financial Services, Physical Plant, Student Accounts, Dining Services, Academic Affairs (especially staff in the Milone Center and the Disabilities Services Coordinator), McDonough Center for Leadership and Business, the Office of Community Engagement, and the Dyson-Baudo Recreation Center), in support of an effective comprehensive student engagement and success program. Provide assistance in the ongoing assessment of New Student Onboarding and Transition initiatives, including new students' onboarding and transition experiences and the development of student leaders in those programs. Support supervisor in management of orientation budgets. Programming: Organize, implement, and oversee effective comprehensive co-curricular new student onboarding programs that serve the College's mission, uphold its core values, and support student learning and development; these include elements of PioSOARs, Transfer Tuesdays, Matriculation, HOME, and ENGAGE. Assist in the development and delivery of curriculum for LEAD 170 course for student onboarding leaders and peer mentoring course for select OLs Assist in the development and delivery of curriculum for the Peer Academic Coaching training, assist with the hiring process, supervision, and timecard completion. Provide programming collaboration and support to other units. Professional Expectations: Understand and fulfill job duties within the scope of the mission statement. Adhere to the policies and procedures of the College. Maintain professionalism in actions, communication, and behavior in every aspect of the position. Attend and complete any required training, certifications, or other professional development. Actively support the college's recruitment and retention efforts. Serve on standing and/or ad hoc committees as needed. Provide event support for other offices' programs as needed. Attend staff meetings to share information and gather feedback for the purposes of goalsetting, strategizing, evaluation, and supervision. Represent New Student Onboarding and Transition Programs in a variety of forums both on- and off-campus; attend, conduct, or participate in a variety of committees as assigned.
Requirements:
Required Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated commitment to the principles and practices of supporting the engagement and success of students from all backgrounds and circumstances. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Proven ability to effectively manage multiple projects Ability to engage and work in collaboration with campus partners. Ability to work independently. Availability to work evening and weekend hours as required by programming schedules. Required Experience & Education: Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred, with preference given to candidates with a Master's in Counseling, College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration or related area. Minimum two (2) years' work experience in higher education, with preference for full-time experience, ideally in new student onboarding and/or peer mentoring. Previous experience delivering for-credit coursework in leadership development. Prior experience managing student leaders or student employees Experience in Title IX investigation and/or administration, or willingness to be trained. Valid US Driver's license. Physical Requirements: Primarily sedentary work in an office setting sitting. Occasional standing and walking. Use of office equipment including computers, printers, copiers with lifting of less than 20lb occasionally to fill machines or move files or materials for programming.

Appointment at Coordinator level or Director level will be based on prior work experience and other qualifications.
