Career Readiness Coordinator (Student Services Professional II) San Diego State University’s Fowler College of Business is seeking a Career Readiness Coordinator (Student Services Professional II) to support student success by connecting classroom learning with career opportunities. Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean, this role provides career readiness services, promotes internships and experiential learning, and builds partnerships with faculty, staff, and employers to enhance students’ career preparation.
Position Information This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits-eligible, permanent/probationary position.
This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Key Responsibilities Foster student engagement: Increase involvement of the diverse College of Engineering (CoE) student body in meaningful internships and career readiness activities.
Build partnerships: Communicate with faculty, staff, and community partners to advocate for and promote quality student internship experiences.
Serve as a resource: Respond to employer and community partner inquiries regarding internship programs, postings, and opportunities.
Collaborate across campus: Work closely with Career Services, MESA, Troops to Engineers, ASIR, and other programs to provide accurate and effective career advising.
Track and report outcomes: Support internship planning, reporting, and tracking of student and employer engagement.
Education and Experience Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Typically (two years) of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or related field; a master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.
Key Qualifications Experience in a university, career services, STEM industry, recruitment, or college internship/career-related capacity.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
Familiarity with student service platforms such as EAB Navigate, CANVAS, Peoplesoft, APEX, ASIR, or similar tools.
Experience collecting, organizing, and reporting data for diverse audiences.
Knowledge of career readiness competencies, standards, and practices (e.g., NACE).
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with diverse populations.
Background in career or internship counseling is preferred.
Degree or experience in a STEM field or STEM-related program is preferred.
Experience working at SDSU or similar institutional setting is preferred.
Familiarity with updating and maintaining website content is preferred.
General knowledge of university structures and internship practices is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits SDSU offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support well-being and professional growth.
Hiring salary is based on experience, education, and qualifications within the department’s budget and equity guidelines. Typical range: $5,083 - $7,228 per month.
