Position Information Position Title Building Systems Technician (For Current SCC Students ONLY) FLSA Shift Day/Evening Supervisor Title Maintenance Supervisor, Jerry Snow Location Main Campus (Dobson) Job Description - Summary This is a mid- level position in the Facilities Department. The Building Systems Technician work-study works under the immediate supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor or other assigned supervisor and may be assigned tasks in any and all of the aspects of facilities maintenance.
* Students must be enrolled in AT LEAST 6 credit hours to qualify for FWS Program This is a part-time opportunity. Students may work up to 15 hours per week, depending on their unmet need on their FASFA. *

Performs general system repairs, renovations and installation on plumbing, HVAC systems, electrical system, fire alarms, kitchen equipment, aircompressors and College machinery.2. Operates equipment and tools while performing digging, landscaping, snowremoval, and other duties as assigned.3. Performs and completes work order as assigned; ensures highest levels ofcustomer service.4. Assists with the periodic inspection of buildings; performs preventivemaintenance procedures and other duties as assigned.5. Answers complaints; keeps records and submits reports of work completedand in progress.6. Keeps records and accounts of inventories of materials and tools.7. Participates in assigned tasks and accepts other duties as needed or asassigned.8. Participate in college activities such as Emergency Response activity, safetyand safety training.9. Ensure compliance with any and all regulations including, but not limited to,the use of personal protection, building codes, emergency egress codes, and OSHA standards.10. Successfully participates in training for employees and other maintenancepersonnel.11. Subject to being called in to work for critical system repairs, snow/ice removal,or emergency duty; work schedule will be adjusted accordingly. SomeSaturday’s may be required.12. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment required for the maintenance alteration and repair of buildings and for the maintenance and repair of electrical, plumbing, and heating and air conditioning equipment; Recognized knowledge of trade practices in plumbing, electrical work, heating and air conditioning; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with college staff and faculty. Required Qualifications Proficiency in the use of a computer and essential software applications such as building management systems, email, work order software, preventive maintenance software. Basic proficiency in the use of a computer and essential software applications such as email and some word processing is required. Preferred Qualifications Have a valid NC driver’s license.
