Duties The Assistant Director of Student Success and Multicultural Programming is a full‑time staff member in the Center for Multicultural Equity & Access (CMEA) in the Division of Student Affairs. This position reports to the Associate Director and/or Senior Associate Dean of Students and provides academic support services and educational programming/training. The role collaborates with Academic Departments/Deans, Center for Student Engagement, Student Outreach and Support, Office of Residential Living, and other departments across the institution. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Provide support to high‑impact activities such as college awareness programs, new student orientation, student success supplemental instruction, leadership, and personal development activities.
Advise students experiencing distress or academic challenges, meeting with resident directors and residents on a weekly basis.
Develop reports analyzing the success of programmatic efforts and graduation/retention metrics related to student belonging and success.
Select, train, and advise house residents of Black House and Casa Latina, along with other living and learning communities.
Develop and advise residential programming that promotes student growth, learning engagement, and inclusion; manage Pre‑Orientation and other transition programs.
Facilitate leadership training for residents and programming members (e.g., event planning/management/marketing, risk management/contract negotiation).
Select, train, and supervise student coordinators and peer leaders; provide workshops on student success strategies and community building in collaboration with other units.
Plan and facilitate student leader and identity development training; contribute as a team member on assigned projects.
Oversee reservations, facilities, dining services, and technology for programming related to academic support, diversity education, and pre‑college programs.
Manage program budgets and financial oversight, including accounting and posting procedures.
Staff and supervise on‑site programs and activities, including late‑night and weekend student activities.
Work Interactions The Assistant Director will oversee student success initiatives and educational programs while collaborating on a wide range of campus events and leadership opportunities. This role provides advising and programming for a diverse population of first‑generation students, students with high financial need, and students from diverse backgrounds. It also works with leaders in CMEA‑monitored multicultural organizations and living/learning spaces, such as Black House and Casa Latina. The Assistant Director designs and teaches workshops on dimensions of difference, social justice, and allyship.
Requirements and Qualifications
Master’s degree required in higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling, social work, or related discipline with a minimum of two years of experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of student development, leadership development, program design & implementation.
Knowledge of theories of student development, social justice, and experience advising student groups and organizations.
Experience working with students who have historically faced barriers to access and success in higher education.
Commitment to providing student‑centered support to growing, fast‑moving, hard‑working teams.
Strong organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, and multitasking skills; detail‑oriented; ability to learn quickly.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to liaise with diverse audiences and stakeholders in a multicultural environment.
Ability to work independently, resourcefully, and with flexibility to changing priorities.

Pay Range The projected salary range is $44,022.00 – $73,406.80. Compensation is determined by factors including qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s needs.
