JOB SUMMARY:
Plans, designs, and implements a variety of professional duties including, advising, counseling, recruiting, and retaining students within the College of Arts and Humanities. Serves as a primary point of contact for faculty, staff, current, and prospective students for designated majors. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
70% - Essential - ADVISING: Plans, implements, and evaluates activities related to the advising and counseling of students in designated CAH undergraduate program(s) in a variety of areas, including admissions procedures, registration and course selection, academic progress, policy interpretation, career overviews, transfer credit, course substitutions, change of major and personal development. Plans and implements new student orientation for students entering assigned majors as freshmen and transfer. Participate in activities sponsored by the Bridge to Clemson program for assigned majors. Follows all applicable policies and procedures. Attend departmental faculty meetings and/or meetings with Department Chair or Undergraduate Program Director(s).
20% - Essential - COUNSELING: Provides supportive counseling for a wide range of student problems and concerns. Refers students to campus services. Following Federal guidelines, serves as a liaison for parent inquiries. Directs the registration activities for advisees. Evaluates and determines use in the curriculum of transfer credits from other Colleges and Universities. Provides input and accurate information on curriculum and advising issues. Serves as the primary point of contact for students as well as departmental faculty in assigned major(s) on main campus. Monitors enrollment in major to meet departmental goals and capacities.
5% - Essential - STUDENT SERVICES CENTER: Participates in events for admitted and prospective students, including orientation, visit events, convocation, family weekend and donor events. Collaborates with appropriate student services staff and assigned departments to prepare recruiting and advising materials.
5% - Essential - REGISTRATION COORDINATION: Serves as backup registration coordinator for assigned department. If the primary registration coordinator is out, the backup registration coordinator will manage course scheduling and student registration, set enrollment restrictions, and manage closed course requests for classes in accordance with departmental and program objectives.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree and experience in student services programs
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree in Student Affairs or related field

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Expected Salary Range: ($ 39,764.00 - $ 50,000.00)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's .

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
